The Family Development Preschool is one of the only preschools licensed by the state as a private school. This certification ensures parents that the curriculum, teacher certification, materials, procedures, and physical education are monitored and meet the high standards of the state. Led by our head teacher Linda Smith, founder of the school, our highly qualified and experienced teaching staff supports, guides and instructs our students in a warm, yet stimulating environment. Parental involvement is a key to the administration of the school because the school's board of directors is composed entirely of parents who have been elected by the other parents. This unique relationship allows parents to have a strong impact on the policies, procedures and direction of the school, while freeing the teachers to concentrate on implementing the educational and developmental programs for our children. The Family Development Center Preschool is a nonprofit incorporated association of parents, thus all the funds coming into the school go directly to the children's education. They are also one of the most progressive preschools in the area providing the children with a computer in every classroom. Our Preschool is independent of the church and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex or religion. |
